The start of spring is a time for new beginnings: Our clocks “spring” forward, giving us longer days and more opportunities to get out and enjoy the sunshine. We take on the traditional spring clean challenge, which gives our homes a fresh start.
Winter Sports Gear
If you're a fan of skiing or snowboarding, March is a great month to be on the lookout for deals. This is typically when the season is winding down, so sporting goods retailers are often trying to clear out remaining stock before the warm-weather activities begin.
Frozen Foods
March is National Frozen Food Month! Many products from the major frozen food brands (like Eggo, Dole, Green Giant, Tyson, etc.) are likely to go on sale this month. And keep an eye on store ads and circulars as well—there are likely to be some great coupons for frozen foods inside!
Gardening Supplies
Spring planting season is around the corner, so join gardening center email lists now to ensure you hear about spring planting sales. Pay close attention for one-day flash sales where dirt, plants, and other supplies are more than 50 percent off!
Big-ticket items like lawnmowers will likely go on sale during spring introductory sales.
Craft Supplies
March is not only National Frozen Food Month, but it’s also National Craft Month! Look out for sales, events, and classes at your local craft store this month, and at national craft chains like Michael’s
Video Games
New games came out just in time for holiday shopping last year, but by March the hype has wound down and chances are games, systems, and accessories have been discounted. To double up on your savings, look for video games at Best Buy and taking advantage of their Gamers Club, which rewards you double points for game purchases.
Golf Clubs
If you’re a golfer in need of some new clubs, get thee to your local pro shop! New club models start arriving this month leading up to the summer golf season. Many shops will discount last year’s models to make room for the new gear, so it’s a great time to buy!
Exercise Equipment
As the weather starts to improve and the days get longer, more people will turn to the outdoors to get their fitness fix, making this the perfect time to stock up on indoor fitness equipment. Look for sales on large items like treadmills and ellipticals, as well as smaller goods like hand weights and yoga mats.
Jewelry & Perfume
Most people buy jewelry and perfume around Valentine’s Day, so business slows down after February 14th. Look for deals now and stash them away until Mother’s Day or a birthday. You can even maximize your perfume purchase by waiting for stores to offer an appealing gift with purchase.
Air Conditioner
It seems counterintuitive, but March is a good time to buy an air conditioner. Unsold inventory from last year must be cleared out for the new models, and really, who needs an air conditioner in March?
Luggage
March is a slow month for travel (even in normal, non-pandemic years), so many retailers offer luggage at a discount to try and increase sales. If you’re planning any road trips or vacations for later in the year, why not take advantage of this month’s low prices by buying any luggage you may need in advance?
