Power of Words Enrichment Writing and Public Speaking School Year Program is for children in grades 2 to 8. The program runs the school year from September to June with classes held once a week for 90 minutes.The program comprises of three units:Unit 1 – Reading Comprehension and Summarizing Unit (where students will learn how to examine texts and extract the main ideas and key details)Unit 2 – Writing Unit (where students learn the structure of writing four types of essays, including the expository, persuasive, comparative and contrast and research essays)Unit 3 – Public Speaking and Debate Unit (where students learn how to write and deliver a speech, as well as develop debate skills)In addition, 20 minutes of each class during the school year is dedicated to the building blocks of writing (including vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, etc). During this segment, students will be given two mini-lessons and work out of the Language Power Now workbooks.
